BoB BoS National Update

Posted by: Help For Heroes | Categories: Bandstand

Happy New Year to you all and welcome to 2018.

There have been some recent changes to the leadership team at Help for Heroes. We wanted to keep you in the loop with some of the new roles that are in place and some new faces to look out for.

New Directors at Help for Heroes

It has been six years since we launched our direct recovery support team - and we have grown a lot since then! Our CEO, Mel, has introduced three new director roles to oversee recovery and ensure we are delivering the very best to those who need support.

Peter Smith has been with us for a number of years, and was previously that part of the military team based at Tedworth House. Peter has been appointed as Director of Performance. His role is to ensure we deliver support to the very best standard. He will also oversee the Band of Brothers / Sisters and Grants teams.

Lis Skeet is joining Help for Heroes as Services Director and will be responsible for making sure we offer the right services, both now and in the future.

James Needham has been appointed as Operations Director. James will work with our regional teams to deliver recovery services and events, both in the Recovery Centres and out in the community.

Have you heard about The Backup Trust?

The Backup Trust provides support for any kind of life-changing spinal cord injury or illness – for you and your family. The Trust is led by volunteers who are all affected by spinal cord injury, and the organisations' telephone support service is available to anyone with a spinal cord injury and their loved ones.

Volunteers use their own experiences to provide practical advice, offer a sympathetic ear or help those affected by spinal cord injuries to achieve their goals.

If you want to get in touch with the Backup Trust, you can call the Outreach and Support team on 020 8875 1805 between 9am-5pm or email

January has been a quiet month for national offers but it is steadily picking up so please keep an eye on your emails so you don’t miss a thing!

Despite it being a quiet period, on Friday 26th January we were privileged to be invited to a lunch at the HardRock Café in Mayfair, London to meet with the Director of Kingsman, Matthew Vaughn. 40 Band of Brothers and Sisters were invited and everyone who attended had a lovely time, and not to mention a yummy lunch! Mark attended the lunch and spoke of the day: “ I would just like to say a big THANK YOU from myself and wife Gill we had a fantastic time meeting Matthew and other BoB and sisters not forgetting the staff . From the moment we arrived during and after the event you made each and everyone feel special.”
