East | Abbie's update
June has been a fairly quiet month in the East as I have taken on a new role within Chavasse VC House. We are currently recruiting for another coordinator to take over the Eastern region so do look out for your email introducing you to the newest member of the team!
We did have a target shooting event where eight lucky Band of Brothers were able to train with the Army Rifle Association at one of the local clubs in Colchester. Over the three days the BoBs were tried rifle shooting, pistol shooting and clay pigeon shooting. One of the BoBs who attended said “I had a fantastic three days, thanks for the coaching, camaraderie and fun. Many thanks to all concerned behind the scenes.”
We ended June on a high with an appreciation event during Carers Week for Band of Sisters and all that they do. Band of Sisters were treated to an afternoon tea, followed by a mindfulness and relaxation session from our regular instructor Chris. The session gave the Band of Sisters tips and information on how to be calmer, more resilient which will result in a healthier and happier BoS and will improve the way they can support their BoB.
Please look out for future events via email and to get in touch with me if there is anything I can do for you. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 01206 814892.
Midlands | Alan's update
Well June has turned into July and I hope you have all enjoyed some sun?
Another busy month with more theatre offers from The Hippodrome in Birmingham, and it is great when I hear back from you to say you have enjoyed a particular show, so thank you. Those that got along to the Cadbury World visit had a great calorie laden time, and I am looking to do something there again later in the year, so if you weren’t lucky in the ballot this time please don’t despair….
We had a breakfast based get together in Solihull, got along to Lutterworth to support the H4H cricket team in their match against The Barmy Army whilst raising a great sum for the charity at the same time. And during Carers Week, we had a pamper session with massages, manicures and reflexology for our amazing BoS with the lovely guys at the Midlands Beauty and massage academy -you all smelt lovely by the end of it!
Possibly the most exciting event was titled Big Boys Toys, but was a trial day for an events location that is looking to open up access to their amazing pieces of kit including the Ziesel. This is the first one imported into the UK and is just brilliant in allowing just about anybody to get off road in snow, mud, dirt and up to 60 degree slopes - it also puts the biggest smile on your face! Hopefully this will be the start of regular events at The Heart of England Centre so keep your eyes peeled.
Looking forward to July I am looking to set up a couple of get togethers in Walsall and another location TBC, and we will be offering some free tickets to Motor Madness on 9th July. It might be a little quiet the second half as I take a couple of weeks leave. Please don’t miss me too much!
I will also re advertise the BoB/BoS Black Tie Ball as I still have tickets available for our biggest bash of the year. The ball takes place on Saturday 28th October, but don’t hang around as they are going fast!Back to Bandstand
