East | Abbie's update
April ended on a high with Band of Brothers and Sisters supporting Bake for Heroes by spending a day at the Recovery Centre baking and making all things sweet and nice. Items baked at the Centre were then sold at the annual Bake for Heroes event in Colchester Town the following day and altogether we raised £3,672.04 - an incredible amount from just cakes and bucket donations. Well done to all involved!
Band of Brothers were lucky enough to have been donated some brand spanking new suits and trousers by famous shirt maker and Help for Heroes supporter Emma Willis. They were able to enjoy an evening of hospitality whilst making new friends and catching up with old ones whilst searching for some new clothes.
We hosted an Armed Forces Compensation Briefing at Chavasse VC House which was delivered by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors to help those struggling with compensation and to help with any questions the guys and girls had. There were lots of positive outcomes with many feeling optimistic about the advice and information they had received.
May ended with a trip to Lincolnshire to meet with BoB and BoS from the local area and to visit Flying Flowers, one of our brand partners. We hosted two events, one lunch time get-together and one evening social where BoB and BoS were treated to dinner in one of the local eateries. It was great to catch up with the locals again!
Whilst in Lincolnshire I headed to one of our brand partnership’s warehouses where some lucky BoS were able to design and make their own bouquet of flowers, to be sold on Flying Flowers website in aid of Help for Heroes.
Midlands | Alan's update
The merry month of May has been and gone in a blur! It has been another busy one in the sunny (mostly) Midlands with the first two of our five wonderful pamper days being run at The Custard Factory in Birmingham by The West Midlands Beauty and Massage Academy. Who knew our guys loved a manicure and pedicure so much (Stephen and Jimmy acting as models), not to mention the massages and reflexology. More to come in June and July....
The Mighty Midlands BoB FC returned to the pitch, and you can see how the rain welcomed us when we played on the Premier League hallowed turf at The Hawthorns - always looking for more players of any ability, and I do mean any ability to get involved. Just drop me an email if you fancy wearing the glorious red strip of glory!
We have also had double comedy with two brilliant free nights at Hednesford and The Comedy Loft in Birmingham, a bowling night in Derby, a meet up and dinner night in Lincoln and Spalding respectively, and a number of ticket offers from the guys at The Birmingham Hippodrome.
A number of you also took up the amazing offer of free places for the Midlands Tough Mudder which ran at Belvoir Castle over the weekend 19-21 May. Can you recognise the muddy creature with handsome good looks and a bald, brown head after twelve miles of mud and fun? If you haven’t done one before I can only encourage you to give them a try - a brilliant atmosphere and a great supporter of H4H to boot.
Looking forward to June we have the H4H cricket team playing the Barmy Army in Lutterworth on Friday 16 June so hope some of you will get along to support your fellow BoB & BoS, ticket offers, more pamper days and football, and a get together in Nottingham (Date TBC).
Lastly, we still have an ever reducing number of tickets available for this year's Black Tie Ball taking place on Saturday 28 October just outside Shrewsbury, and a huge thank you to those who have already purchased your tickets. Don’t miss out get yours now!Back to Bandstand
