East | Abbie's update
With spring just about appearing, it has been lovely having some much needed sunshine! We ended February on a mask making workshop hosted and run by the Vamos Theatre Group. 4 Band of Brothers designed, modelled and painted their own masks which will be used in conjunction with the local youth theatre group, as well as them being able to take their own mask home. The productions are all mime based so the masks tell a story themselves. One Band of Brothers shared his experience “I had a great two days. Fun, relaxed and enjoyable and with the support and direction of Rachael and the rest of the team, I was able to produce a mask, which I did not believe, I could have done on the first morning. Also shows mindfulness can come in my different forms!”
March has been a little quiet on the events and activities side due to me having a week’s annual leave and a few days in Tedworth House with the rest of the wonderful Band of Brothers & Sisters Team. We get-together twice a year to work on ways to develop the BoB/BoS Fellowship to ensure our members are receiving the best possible support. March has been geared towards the BoB/BoS Focus Group and the Band of Sisters Respite & Relaxation Weekend. I would like to thank all the BoB/BoS who attended the Focus Group and provided us with your feedback. We strive to ensure you receive the most from our Fellowship so thank you! We also had our regular craft session at the Recovery Centre which saw Band of Sisters using sewing machines to make pillows. The finished article were incredible and has given the ladies a new found confidence. Well done ladies!
Looking into April and May, there will be Easter activities happening and get-togethers around the regions. If you have any questions, as always, please so contact me on email@example.com.

Welcome to spring! March has passed by in a blur and with the clocks moving forward we can all start to enjoy the joy of brighter evenings, and getting outside without a brolly for a change.
So we had a comedy night at Hednesford FC thanks to Carl our brilliant BoB and general manager of that lovely football club-we also have another date for more of the same on May 12th so keep an eye out for that offer coming out in April.
Again a big thank you for the lovely feedback to those who used the Hippodromes Billy Elliot ticket offer-it is a brilliant show and I am hopeful we may have the opportunity to repeat the offer before the run ends, so again keep an eye on your inbox as these are often last minute and quick turn round.
We also had a briefing in Telford by another of our BoB’s Michelle who works for Wolverhampton University on free business start-up courses for spouses, and Recognition of Prior Learning which converts military qualifications into tangible civilian qualification equivalent’s and degree points. Both are brilliant schemes and if you need more details drop me a line…
A huge Sunday lunch in Stafford was well attended with lots of families meeting up for the first time and my life, did we eat well! A really enjoyable afternoon and a huge thank you to those that travelled long distances to be there-I hope the waistlines have recovered!
Six guys also had the opportunity to try their hand at glass making in Stourbridge and it is our intention to obtain some funding to run a longer course following a similar scheme running in America with the US Army.
So April will see the infamous Midlands BoB FC back in action, Easter events involving chocolate and hopefully another bowling evening in the East of the region….
Lastly-I can now confirm The Black Tie Ball is back! Yes, following last year’s brilliant night another chance to dress up, eat, dance and laugh in the company of your fellow BoB and BoS. This year we are heading west to The Albrighton Hall Hotel just North of the fair town of Shrewsbury and the date for your diary is Saturday 28th October. More details to follow but I already have a superb comedian and a wonderful location so it promises to be another special night!Back to Bandstand
