Bath Rugby Gala Dinner

On Thursday, Bath Rugby Club hosted a gala dinner in aid of Help for Heroes and Bath Rugby Foundation. The dinner was one of many fundraising events organised by the Club to raise money for its two chosen charities. This exclusive evening was the first joint event demonstrating the partnership between Help for Heroes and Bath Rugby.

The event took place at the Draper’s Company Livery Hall in London.

Tarquin McDonald, Managing Director of Bath Rugby said, “The London Gala Dinner has been a fantastic event and I am very proud to say that the Club has raised such a substantial amount for two brilliant charities. Both charities use sport to aid recovery, build confidence and get people back on track which is something the Club, and its supporters, can hugely relate to. I look forward to our continued partnership, and raising more money at The Clash, our match at Twickenham in April”.

Simon Halliday, Patron of Help for Heroes and former Bath Rugby and England player, said: “Bath Rugby and Help for Heroes have held a strong relationship for many years, particularly in the area of Sports Recovery. Indeed, the aim of Bath Rugby Foundation closely replicates those of Help for Heroes Sports Recovery, with the focus on motivation, raising self-esteem and confidence, overcoming setbacks and improving life skills.  We are incredibly grateful for Bath Rugby’s support for our Heroes.”

The dinner was attended by players, both past and present, beneficiaries from both charities, and Corporate supporters of the Club and both causes. The funds raised at the event will now be split equally between the two charities, which have a natural affinity as many of their aims and objectives are the same. Both charities aim to support people at vulnerable stages in their life, to bring about significant change to their health and wellbeing.

Bath Rugby Foundation is the charitable arm of Bath Rugby, set up to empower young people in Bath and surrounding areas to succeed. It uses the power of sport to develop the most vulnerable people, build their confidence and help them to live successful, happy and healthy lives

Tarquin said “As a Club we are incredibly proud of our partnership with Help for Heroes, which we announced at the end of 2015. The Bath Rugby Gala Dinner is the first in a series of events which will raise funds for both Help for Heroes and Bath Rugby Foundation, the charitable arm of the Club.”
