How Royal Navy veteran Mike is carving out a career making world-class cricket bats
Mike Kennedy, an injured Navy veteran, has created a limited-edition, handmade cricket bat to raise money for Help for Heroes. Mike sustained massive injuries to his lower back in a rocket attack in Iraq in 2008, and spent the next five years in and out of rehab. In a bid to forge a new career, Mike, an outstanding cricketer, received support from Help for Heroes to get back on his feet, regain his confidence and he began to shape his future in cricket.

We know, first-hand, the power that sport can play in people's physical and psychological recovery if they experience a life changing injury or illness. Last year alone, nearly one in two of our veterans requested access to health and wellbeing activities to aid their recovery.
