Team Ethos becomes Official Fundraising Partner of Team UK for the Invictus Games The Hague 2020

Monday 11 March 2019

An organisation which has raised more than £7 million to assist military sporting talent has pledged to support Team UK on the road to the next Invictus Games.

Team Ethos

Team Ethos, which was established in 2011, assists Forces sporting talent to succeed. Together with its registered charity Team Army, which is also donating a generous £50,000, they will help to kickstart fundraising efforts for Team UK.  Their mission is to increase sporting opportunity by supporting grass-root activity and promote excellence by encouraging elite athletes to compete at the highest level. They also enable recuperation and rehabilitation of those wounded, injured and sick (WIS).

Now they will put their joint force behind the nation’s wounded, injured and sick serving personnel and veterans, as the official fundraising partner of Team UK for the Invictus Games The Hague 2020.

Team Ethos will seek to levy support from the private sector to offer funding to Team UK, as they prepare for the Invictus Games Trials and first ever national multi-sport event for up to 500 wounded military in Sheffield in July, and look ahead to competing in the Invictus Games The Hague 2020.

Major General Lamont Kirkland, CEO of Team Ethos, said: “We are honoured to have been selected for this role which we regard as a significant endorsement of the activities we have carried out for the Armed Forces and the WIS veteran community since 2011.  Our aim is to help the best get better.”

Team UK is delivered by the UK Delegation for the Invictus Games, consisting of the Ministry of Defence, Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion.

Rear Admiral Jim Macleod, Head of the UK Delegation, said: “We are delighted to welcome Team Ethos as our official fundraising partner. Team Ethos has proven to be a powerful force for good over recent years in helping to fund sport, challenge and adventure in the Armed Forces in an ethical and compliant manner. In particular, they have supported many groups that use the power of sport to assist rehabilitation and enhance the recovery journey for WIS service personnel and veterans. Their track record makes them an ideal partner for the UK Delegation.”

Participants will be able to take advantage of Sheffield’s world class sporting facilities and venues and take part in adaptive sports including athletics, wheelchair basketball, powerlifting, swimming and sitting volleyball.
