Veteran Steve Craddock, is set to fundraise over £500,000 by the end of this year, cycling over 5,000 miles in 2019 alone. He’s just completed his first two cycle rides and we thought you’d like to know how he did. Alternatively, join him in person if you can (click on the link below), when he completes his third challenge, riding with Dame Kelly Holmes, 50 veterans and over 100 members of the public into the Armed Forces Day event in Medway, Kent.
At 350 miles, this was not the longest ride Steve has ever completed, but he described it as his hardest. Done on mountain bikes, the terrain was rough and bone-jarring at times. The camaraderie was high amongst the eleven riders and Steve enjoyed meeting them, the support crew and the locals. He cycled with another long-term supporter of Help for Heroes, Keith Bateman, and together they spread the word about the charity and its work. Ever a Force for Good, Steve also took the opportunity to cheer up the locals with his unique sense of humour, teaching them some of his Geordie patter. Here are a few of his photos.

A late entry to our 2019 Big Battlefield Bike Ride, Steve inspired the field of riders with his talks and support, ensuring no one was left behind. The weather was a bit different to Africa, with rain on the first couple of days, but his cheer helped everyone through that and we arrived in Paris in style, with Steve and all the other Band of Brother riders heading in to Paris alongside the British Ambassador to France and Monaco, who joined the peloton on his folding bicycle.
