Shirley's Update: South West

August was a great month with lots of events and activities happening in the South West.

We have enjoyed getting around the region for our Community Recovery Sessions where we have met lots of Band of Brothers and Sisters at our drop-in sessions.
Keep an eye on your emails for regular dates for these sessions. Why not come and join us at a drop-in near you, where you can also take part in an activity or have a swim.

On Tuesday 21st August, 19 members of the fellowship gathered together for an evening of good food and great company, where the banter and laughs lifted spirits and the delicious food satisfied our appetites!

We also had great fun in the woods learning how to work collaboratively during an amazing forestry session on Wednesday 22nd August.

Children and adults alike enjoyed the peace and quiet whilst building dens, lighting fires, whittling arrows and hunting for fairy dwellings which included a fairy jail and a fairy pub.

Band of Sister Rachel had fun on the tree swing. She said: “This has been great for the kids and adults and even big kids like me.”

Her Band of Brother said he felt relaxed by the peaceful and calm surroundings.

Ruth's Update: Wales

Helo ac croesawu pob
Ahoy ship mates!

Last month we kept you all busy with some truly swashbuckling and memorable adventures across the Welsh Coast and Irish Sea.

We were taken on a once in a life time opportunity by the fantastic crew of the Eromol 5 with Dolphin Spotting boat trips in New Quay, West Wales. Our Skipper and Marine Biologist really looked after the fellowship by making the trip as interactive and educational as possible.

Seeing our members faces when they saw the dolphins in the water was a truly heart-warming experience. The dolphins are wild, and there was no guarantee that they would make an appearance. However, they did not disappoint.

We also attended another educational and interactive adventure in North Wales with Sea Coast Safaris, held a pom-pom making session at a kid’s crafts event, attended our monthly hubs and regular sporting sessions…. Phew! We really have kept everyone busy!

In September, we have another out of this world opportunity where our Band of Brothers members will learn to surf with Surfability UK off the Welsh Coast of Caswell Bay. It is for anyone with any level of surfing experience. They are wheelchair accessible and provide adapted surf boards. Our Band of Brothers will have the chance to forget about daily worries and become one with the ocean. It will also be a great chance for them to feel a little like Patrick Swayze in Point Break!

There’s plenty coming up for you lovely lot in September. Highlights promise to be the archery and falconry day, and the adult soft play.

This month we have the following monthly hubs. If you would like to attend any of these please do get in touch. It will be lovely to see as many of you as possible!
