Adrianna’s Update: London and the South East

How on Earth are we halfway through the year?! Doesn’t time fly!

Thank you to all BoB and BoS who made it to any of my events this month. It really has been a month for quirky little places, two of which being God’s Own Junkyard - a warehouse filled with neon signs, the other being our visit to Alice and the Hatter - an Alice in Wonderland themed tea room!

Both were great settings for local BoB and BoS to get to know each other and get help, support and information from me and each other.

It has also been great this month to attend the drop-in clinics that Zoe used to see you all at. Veteran’s drop-in clinics are a great way to meet like-minded people in the area and to get help and support. For information on where your nearest one might be, please email Adrianna.

This month on Armed Forces Day I will be supporting Steve Craddock, founder of Cycle for Heroes by taking part in the ride! Please feel free to come along to support us in Kent!

Phillipa’s Update: South Central

May saw the first Help for Heroes visit to the lovely Isle of Wight. A team of four travelled in the sunshine to East Cowes where we joined VOS (Veterans Outreach Support) and several other charities at the Community Centre in Newport.

We had a busy afternoon and met lots of BoB and BoS we hadn’t met before and lots who we had already seen on this side of the water. It was great to see everyone and look forward to seeing you all again on 20th June when we will be visiting again. See you there!
On a gloriously sunny Friday, nine BoB learnt the noble of fly fishing under the watchful eye of the Services Dry Fly Fishing Club and Fishing for Forces. Everyone had a lovely day on the banks of the Avon and plenty of fish were caught.

Saturday 19th saw the wedding of the year take place in Windsor. We held an event at Tedworth House Recovery Centre with 80 people attending a day of celebration. There were several television screens broadcasting the event and those that attended could take part in various crafting activities, have their face painted and have some great photos taken in a brilliant photobooth. Lunch was a delicious BBQ served outside in yet more glorious sunshine.
