Philippa’s update: South Central

Modelling for Heroes continues to be held monthly at Tedworth House Recovery Centre. It takes place on the first Tuesday of the month running from midday to 4.00pm.  All BoB and BoS are invited and the next two dates will be 3rd April and 1st May.  This is a great opportunity to meet other local BoB/BoS and have a go at scale modelling.

We had a successful visit to VOS in Portsmouth and I managed to catch up with some new members and those of you I have met before. In May, VOS (Veterans Outreach Support) will begin monthly visits to the Isle of Wight.  As a charity, we will be coming with VOS to the Island as often as we can.  The first visit will be on 16th May in Newport.  Venue and timings to follow.

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Tedworth monthly get together.  Lucy Thorpe from the Phoenix Centre was on hand to explain about gym inductions and how to register interest in courses.  The next get together is on 27th April between 10am and midday.  The grants team will be on hand to explain how you can apply for a grant and what is involved in the process.

  • 4th April – Easter Egg Hunt
  • 5th April – Family Bush Craft near Cirencester
  • 10th April – Family visit to Roche Court near Salisbury
  • 17th April –  Band of Sisters supper and evening spent designing a new scarf for merchandise. 6pm – 9pm Tedworth House.
  • 27th April – Monthly catch up at Tedworth House. 10 am – midday.

Adrianna’s update: South East BoB BoS South

The Beast from the East didn’t stop us from having brilliant meetups this month!

We have had a wonderful month having traditional pie and mash, pottery painting in the coolest café, visiting the Donkey Sanctuary, having fish and chips down at the coast, finding our way out of escape rooms, eating ice cream and playing indoor golf!

Outside of my counties I also attended the BoS respite weekend at Colchester’s Recovery Centre Chavasse VC House. It was a perfect weekend and it was lovely to meet our very deserving Band of Sisters who had a wonderful time too.

I also had the pleasure of bumping into some of you at our Help for Heroes: LIVE event in Birmingham.

Thank you all so much for making your way up in the snow, and for coming to see me too, it made a great day even better. Thank you!

So what’s next month?

  • Tuesday 3rd April, Haselmere East Craft, Surrey
  • Wednesday 4th April, chocolate egg decorating, London office
  • Friday 6th April, go-karting, Kent
  • Wednesday 11th April, Thrift Farm, Buckinghamshire
  • Thursday 12th April, Bowling, Berkshire
  • Friday 13th April, Fairytale farm, Oxfordshire
  • Friday 20th April, Spitfire museum and breakfast, Kent
