Alan’s Update: Midlands Region

Spring has sprung and what a busy March we have had! Visits to RAF Cosford (See our potential pilot Steve!) and the National Remembrance Arboretum, breakfast and lunch/dinner get-togethers in Hednesford, Worcester, Mansfield, and Coventry. There was also the amazing day at the NEC with Help for Heroes: LIVE! It was so good to see so many of you there. I hope you all got plenty from the day and it helps in your recovery.

Thanks also for the great feedback especially from those lucky enough to get the free Warhorse tickets for Nottingham. It helps enormously if I can forward your comments to those generous organisations who donate and help us with events.

Looking forward, we have two family events at Easter with Amerton Farm and the annual Chocolate Hunt/Sausage Fest, the Mighty BoB Midlands Football team returning to the pitch on 19th April and again on 3rd May, be great to see some new talent! Other dates for your diaries include:

  • Wednesday 18th April - Curry evening in Leicester.
  • Wednesday 25th April - Ski/Snowboard session at the Tamworth Snowdome
  • Tuesday 24th April - Model Making at Fisher House, Birmingham
  • Saturday 12th May - Worcester Warrior Open Day with Sporting Force

We are also going to be giving you the opportunity to learn beekeeping, adaptive rugby and hopefully some go-karting so lots to look forward to!

Lastly, tickets for this year's Midlands Black Tie Ball will be available in the next couple of weeks. The ball takes place on Saturday 29th September at The Nottingham Belfry. Make sure you get along to our biggest event of the year!

Lindsay’s Update: East Region

Finally, it looks like spring is on its way!

I cannot believe that it has been six months since I started as your BoB/BoS Co-ordinator in the East, where has the time gone?  I have enjoyed every minute of it and have been out and about meeting as many of you as I can, and I will continue to do this.

I will also be holding regular coffee mornings at Chavasse House Recovery Centre in Colchester. There will be the opportunity meet the team and find out about the support available through the Recovery Centre.  These meetings are held monthly and you will be notified of the dates for the next sixmonths in an upcoming email, so please look out for that.

I held my first Respite Weekend for seven Band of Sisters at Chavasse House in March.  Everyone had a really relaxed weekend. I would really recommend anyone who hasn’t attended before to put their names down for the next one, which is due to be held in June.  They are excellent weekends when all you BoS are allowed to be pampered and waited just as you deserve to be.

It was lovely to see some of you at Help for Heroes: LIVE in Brimingham, what a fantastic day that was!

We have also had two Directors join the Band of Brothers and Sisters for coffee on the 28th March, and although I was away training and couldn’t be there, I believe this was a very enjoyable event.

Now onto April and all the exciting things coming up!
