Ruth's update: Wales

Hello you lovely lot!

We have had a fantastic month in Wales! From lots of lovely new members joining the fellowship, a really creepy fun on a terror trail to The Cardiff Devils welcoming “the H4H Welsh family” to their first game!

As you all know, we attended the Cardiff Devils Vs the Belfast Giants Ice Hockey match this month. Little did you guys know that I had a few surprises up my sleeve! We were welcomed with open arms into the rink, where the Devils had printed a picture and a hello to “the Welsh family” to you lovely lot and put it into the official programme! They even put the picture up on the huge arena screens with a huge shout out offer the tannoy so 3,000 fans from all over Wales could help welcome you all too! It was an amazing evening where we even had “old” brothers in arms meet up, who haven’t seen each other since serving.

I also received a heart-warming message from one of our lovely BoS, Leslie Prosser.

Leslie is so proud that John is on one of the Help for Heroes official banners with… Wait for it…. Welsh literature on! One of our super supporters kissed the picture of Johns beaming face and made Leslie bubble over with pride, love and respect for her husband so she thought she would share the picture with you all and say a massive thank you to everyone.

So, what’s happening in December I hear you say?

Shirley's update: South West region

Hello from the South West where we have had a wonderfully busy month of activities and events including mountain biking, sitting badminton, Christmas Crafting and stone carving.

One veteran and four serving WIS had a great time when they were taken mountain biking by our South West Sports Recovery manager, Marty, on Wednesday 8th November.

They spent an amazing 2 hours enjoying medium technical mountain biking in Lanhydrock, Cornwall and couldn’t wait to find out when they could do it again.

One beneficiary said that it had such a positive impact on him that he has subsequently applied to take part in further activities with Help for Heroes.

Saturday 25th November was a brilliant Christmas Crafternoon for 40 Bob, Bos and children. Crafty activities included pebble painting, card making and cupcake designing and decorating.

Most of Plymouth Recovery Centre is now sparkling with glitter!

We are looking forward immensely to our Bob and Bos family Christmas lunch on December 21st at St Mellion International Resort in Cornwall where Band of Brother, Emma Sanders will be singing. There will also be a children’s entertainer and a special visit from a man in a red suit!
