Day 12: Homecoming

Monday 17 March 2014

And so it comes to an end…

Last night’s closing ceremony was an incredible experience to be a part of.  The performances put on were inspirational and the highlights video played during the ceremony, looking back at all the achievements of ParalympicsGB and the world, was simply phenomenal.

It was up early and straight to Sochi airport this morning to start the journey back to the UK, alongside what seemed like pretty much every other athlete in the Games. A swift change in Moscow and we were homeward bound with the rest of the ParalympicsGB team.

After boarding at Moscow, we were very fortunate to get upgraded and made to feel extremely welcome – a massive thank you British Airways for looking after us so well.

The Games have been a wonderful experience for everyone involved.  I, personally, and know I speak on behalf of the whole team, feel hugely honoured to have played just a small part in it and it it’ll be something that stays with me for the rest of my life.

I cannot wait to watch these athletes and the many more we’re supporting with our partners, the British Paralympic Association, on their Road to Rio and beyond.

Thank you all for your support.  Until Rio…

Good night
