School rows the extra mile for Help for Heroes

Friday 4 July 2014

A huge thank you to Millfield School in Somerset who raised money for Help for Heroes last week when over 50 people rowed 278,000 metres in two days!

Help for Heroes is the partner charity for Millfield School’s Cricket Programme for 2014/15, with Director of Cricket Coaching, Mark Garaway joining in the rowing fun by taking on his own personal marathon (42,195 metres) in 2hours 38 minutes. The school are continuing to raise funds for H4H through more events in September and October and will present us with a cheque at the final event - stay tuned!

Mark says, “I was fortunate enough listen to a Help for Heroes Ambassador at the Hampshire Coaches Association Dinner in March and was inspired by the work that the charity were doing to positively impact on the lives of many servicemen and women. Since then, I have been hosted by the staff at Tedworth House who showed me around their amazing facilities and gave me an insight into their incredible work. Millfield School are proud to be associated with the charity."
