Winter Walk

Overview

Get those walking boots out, wrap up, stretch the legs and get active in the New Year with like-minded adventurers. The Winter Walk has been adapted to enable us to operate a ‘Covid-Secure’ model. Choose your distance – you’ll get a few winter ‘goodies’, a medal, some hot food & drink ‘to go’ – and a great event to take on as we head into a more positive year.

This event has plenty of outdoors space and has staggered timings over 2 days, to ensure social distancing measures can be implemented. On Saturday & Sunday there are 2 distance options – Full Marathon & Half Marathon – with both starting & finishing at The Oval Cricket Ground near Vauxhall. The routes take in highlights of the Thames and its historic bridges, and many of the Capital’s major landmarks. In February 2021 there’ll be a Winter Walk for everyone – and it will be one to remember!

Charity Sponsorship –  you pay a small registration fee, do lots of fundraising and we cover the cost of your event place! 

  • Full challenge (42km) - £10 reg fee + £225 fundraising 

  • Half challenge (21km) - £7.50 reg fee + £155 fundraising 

Mixed Funding – pay half of the event place cost, fundraise a bit less and we pay the balance of the event place cost.

  • Full challenge (42km) - £39.50 reg fee + £120 fundraising 

  • Half challenge (21km) - £29.50 reg fee + £100 fundraising 

Self Fund – you pay the full cost of the event place and fundraise whatever you want, with no set target or deadline, and there’s no cost at all to the charity!

  • Full challenge (42km) - £79 reg fee + set your own fundraising target

  • Half challenge (21km) - £59 reg fee + set your own fundraising target

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register to complete this challenge?

The challenge is run by Action Challenge and you should register directly with them, via the 'Register Now' button. During registration select Help for Heroes as your charity, we will be told about you automatically and will be in touch. 

Where does my fundraising go?

Half of your fundraising target needs to be received by the Charity no later than eight weeks before the challenge. This covers the cost of your participation in the challenge.

Anything you fundraise over this amount is the money that Help for Heroes can use to provide lifelong support to our wounded veterans and their families.

WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR COVID-19 SAFE FUNDRAISING?

The health and the safety of all our supporters is really important to us. Please keep safe and follow the Government Guidelines including any local lockdown requirements when doing any fundraising on behalf of Help for Heroes.  For full guidelines please check the Institute of Fundraising website to ensure you are familiar with what is required of you, the fundraiser, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
