  • You will be required to raise £3,640 (Fundraising option) or £2,840 (Part-payment option) of your fundraising total by Saturday 1 August 2020 to confirm your participation in the trip. Alternatively, if you wish to self-fund your trip payment of £2,025 is due 4-8 weeks prior to your departure date.

Machu Picchu, the legendary Lost City of the Incas, is one of the most iconic sights in South America. Cycling through the heartland of the Incas, away from the crowds, is an unforgettable way to reach it.

What’s Included?

  • All transport from London to Cuzco return

  • Any meals specified 'not included' in the itinerary
  • Travel insurance
  • Cycle helmet (compulsory) and water bottle
  • Personal spending money, souvenirs and drinks
  • Tips for local support crew
  • Inbound airport departure tax (no tax applied at the time of writing)
  • Fees for any optional sites, attractions or activities
  • Airline taxes: we cap these so that £250.00 is the maximum you would pay
  • Any applicable surcharges as per Terms and Conditions

Where does my fundraising go?
The fundraising we receive beyond this cost covering your target will allow Help for Heroes to continue providing lifelong support to our wounded Servicemen and women. Ideally, we would like your fundraising to have hit £4550 within two weeks of the challenge finishing.

Who organises the Trip?
This is an Open Challenge, meaning anyone can take part, organised and run by our partner Discover Adventure and is a fantastic opportunity to meet different people. All communications, regarding trip registration and logistics are directly with Discover Adventure, whilst Help for Heroes will support you every step of the way with your fundraising.

What will the cycling be like?
Discover Adventure grade their challenges on a spectrum of Yellow, Orange and Red, increasing in difficulty based on distance, terrain, climate etc. Discover Adventure grade this trip as yellow and it is perfect for first time cycle challengers.

The Help for Heroes Events Team will work closely with you throughout your fundraising journey and share helpful tips and advice every step of the way. You will receive a comprehensive fundraising guide to help you get started, along with monthly fundraising ideas straight to your inbox!

Although sponsorship from your friends and family is amazing, getting creative and coming up with other ways to fundraise will provide a massive boost to your fundraising. You can do this by planning events throughout the months leading up to your challenge and for three months after the end of it – plenty of time to reach that magic target. Your fundraising journey is all part of the experience, so relish it!

It’s easier if you break your fundraising down into smaller monthly chunks and plan an event or activity for each month to hit that amount.

  • Your first target is £3640 which is due 01/08/2020. Take this amount and divide it by the number of months you have until that date. You now have your monthly target.
  • Plan how you can make that monthly target. For some great fundraising ideas contact the Help for Heroes Events Team.
  • Your final fundraising target of £4,550 isn’t due until 17/11/2020, two weeks after your return.
