New to the Help for Heroes trekking programme, this once in a lifetime charity fundraising trek promises to be an unforgettable experience. Breathtaking scenery, sprawling jungles and awe-inspiring ruins await you, along with fascinating culture and great company.
Make memories to last a lifetime
Although sponsorship from your friends and family is amazing, getting creative and coming up with other ways to fundraise will provide a massive boost to your fundraising. You can do this by planning events throughout the months leading up to your challenge and for three months after the end of it – plenty of time to reach that magic target. Your fundraising journey is all part of the experience, so relish it!
It’s easier if you break your fundraising down into smaller monthly chunks and plan an event or activity for each month to hit that amount.
As part of the Help for Heroes Trekking Team, here are just some of the things you can expect to benefit from:

Where does my fundraising go?
The suggested fundraising target for this challenge is £3,350, of which £1,630 must be received by Help for Heroes by Friday 8 December 2017 to cover the cost of your participation. The £1,720 we receive beyond this cost covering target is the money which allows Help for Heroes to continue providing support to our wounded, injured and sick. Ideally, we would like your fundraising to have hit £3,350 within six weeks of the challenge.
People donate and sponsor in good faith and need to be well informed about where their money is going. We encourages all fundraisers to be open and transparent; this applies to all fundraising activities, including collections in supermarkets, private fundraising events with family (e.g. curry night) cake sales etc.
What will the trekking be like?
The trekking will be varied and fun, but is designed to be tough – it is a challenge after all! You will be on predominantly flat terrain, with long distances in hot, dusty conditions through farmland, rice paddies and dense jungle forests. Some days may be hillier than others. Average temperatures will range from 22-32°C, with rainfall likely. Overall, you will trek approximately 108km on this trip.
How fit do I need to be to take part in the challenge?
The trek is designed to be a tough challenge for those of good health and fitness, and is achievable for most people provided you put the necessary training in. When training, it is very useful to think about the hours you need to walk for, and the conditions you’ll be walking in. A training guide will be provided in your welcome pack, which will help you prepare for the challenge. The more training you undertake, the more you will enjoy the trek!
The Help for Heroes Events Team will work closely with you throughout your fundraising journey and share helpful tips and advice every step of the way. You will receive a comprehensive fundraising guide to help you get started, along with monthly fundraising ideas straight to your inbox!
It’s not just about sponsorship from friends – you can plan events throughout the build-up to your trek to help boost your fundraising total.
