What is it?

Take the opportunity to try out life on the slopes in a safe environment.

In Tidworth, we run skiing development week held on our indoor skiplex and led by our adaptive ski instructor.

At Colchester, try skiing or snowboarding at a ski centre with Disability Snowsport UK instructors.

For those based near our Catterick Centre, sessions are run at Sunderland Dry Ski slope or the ski centre near Leeds.

Who is it for?

All beneficiaries: wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans and their families. This activity is available for beginners or experienced skiers, all abilities welcome.

Why is it offered?

We offer this activity as part of a wide range of sporting activities to help improve fitness, confidence, teamwork and general wellbeing. Sport can play an important role in your recovery journey by bringing you many physical and psychological benefits.

One beneficiary who has taken part in this activity said, “Having the opportunity to use a ski-plex where I have the ability to exercise and ski under control in a safe environment provides me with the release and sense of freedom which otherwise my illness inhibits me. This aids my recovery as it allows me to interact with other wounded, injured or sick servicemen and women where I am not stared at or questioned about my illness but otherwise accepted as a normal person.

"I believe that by finding a sport that aids me to keep my fitness up plateaus my illness, thus keeping me more mobile and active.”
