209 Mark Stonelake (2) (Small)

Mark Stonelake

Torpoint, Cornwall

Army veteran, Mark, had his leg amputated above the knee and has damage to his remaining ankle.  Since his injury in 2008, Mark has conditioned himself to keep a very high level of discipline. He has a weekly routine that includes five weight training sessions per week as well as participation in a local athletics group twice per week. Previous to his injury, Mark was a keen athletics enthusiast, completing the All Arms Commando Course and routinely participating in endurance athletics training. Mark’s motivation for competing in the Invictus Games is to represent his country and to show that, even with serious injury, there are no limits to what you can achieve. Mark believes this opportunity will give him the chance to prove himself physically and mentally, from being a soldier to being an athlete, allowing himself to achieve greater self-worth.
