Help for Heroes & British Weight Lifting recruiting for Talent Camp Series

Wounded, injured and sick service men and women are invited to take part in a new joint Para Powerlifting Talent Camp Series with Help for Heroes and British Weight Lifting.

Help for Heroes & British Weight Lifting Talent Camp Series

The new training camp will not only provide individuals a chance to give it a go, but there is also opportunity to find out more about what it takes to compete for Great Britain and to explore their potential in the sport.

Participants will train in a fun and motivating performance environment alongside Powerlifting athletes, including Help for Heroes Sports Recovery supported athlete, Micky Yule.

Micky, who lost both legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan, has used Powerlifting as a huge part of his rehabilitation and recovery, culminating in a fourth place at the Commonwealth Games last year, and gold at the Invictus Games and his sights are firmly set on representing his country at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Working under the guidance of British Weight Lifting Performance coaches and Help for Heroes Sports Recovery, participants will develop their technical and physical abilities in preparation for competitive opportunities in 2015. As part of the camp, there will be chance for individuals to undergo advisory classification for International Paralympic Committee (IPC) competition opportunities.

The joint camp forms part of the Help for Heroes partnership with ParalympicsGB to introduce military personnel to Paralympic Sport.

The 2015 Camp series will combine elite training and a series of education modules as well as a bespoke support package extending to all the complete holistic support Help for Heroes has to offer.
