Cpl Luke Reeson (serving)

A Corporal in the Army, Luke is still serving. He has gunshot wounds to both legs, a broken left tib and fib, foot drop, metal screws and rod in his legs.

Since injury sport has become Luke’s full time job, it started as therapy and a way to get out the house, now he competes alongside able bodied athletes and even coach able bodied children alongside his training commitments.

Six months post injury Luke went out to the Warrior Games in Colorado in March/April 2013; this started his journey in sport. Prior to swimming, Luke tried rowing and weightlifting and has been doing triathlon for three years, completing the Arch to Arc challenge in September 2015.

He says: “Sport brings back team work and gives you goals and routine which you lose quickly after injury, swimming makes me feel able bodied again when I’m in the water.”

Luke competed at the British Para Swimming International competition this year (2016) and at the Invictus Games in 2014 and 2016.
