Lance Corporal Tyler Christopher (Thruxton, Wiltshire)
Sport: Sledge Hockey
A BPA Paralympic Inspiration Programme Athlete, a Help for Heroes Band of Brother and a wounded soldier, 29 year-old Lance Corporal Tyler Christopher, who serves with 4 Rifles, was injured by an IED in Afghanistan in 2009.
As a result of the blast he had to have both legs amputated above the knee, as well as nearly losing his arm and suffering abdominal injuries.
While undergoing his rehabilitation, Tyler was introduced to the Sport of Sledge Hockey through the Help for Heroes Sports Recovery programme and he hasn't looked back since.
He has played for the Help for Heroes Battle Back Bisons, Peterborough Phantom and is also a valued member of the GB Team. Tyler hopes to help the GB Sledge Hockey Team qualify for the 2018 Paralympic Games, and would be honoured to be part of the team should they represent their country at a Paralympic Games.
