Dear H4H Supporter,

It has been an extraordinary few weeks, even by H4H standards. With the income total since we launched standing at over £87m, which is wonderful, it is even better to see so much of it being spent in the support of 'our blokes', the men and women of our Armed Forces.

Last week we went to Colchester and together with the Army, The Royal British Legion and our other charity partners, including the ABF The Soldier's Charity, we cut the turf on what will become the first of our fully comprehensive Personnel Recovery Centres. We will be funding the £6.5m build costs and the Legion will cover the £500,000 annual running costs for ten years with of course the Army paying for 'the blokes' training and staff, what a team!

The Colchester Personnel Recovery Centre (PRC) will accommodate 30 residents and another 30 or even more day residents, all engaged in preparing for the next stage of their recovery and getting ready to launch back into life. We are really looking forward to seeing it open in early 2012.

Then it was off to the garrison town of Catterick in North Yorkshire where we poured over the plans for the Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre (PRAC), visiting the site with the builders who are already working on the huge project to provide brand new accommodation for the soldiers training there. The £12m PRAC will provide a centre for 50 residents, many more day residents and the base of the Personnel Recovery Unit. As it will not be fully completed until late 2012, we are funding an interim centre in refurbished buildings that will be ready for up to 30 residents from this summer.

Then it was back to Tidworth where we finally signed the contract on Tedworth House and in so doing committed ourselves to the biggest project to date. £32m will be needed to refurbish, build a new wing and then run the superb stately home as a PRAC and a one stop welfare shop where we can offer fully comprehensive support to the wounded, both serving and retired. The old riding school will become a gym and wellness centre offering physiotherapy, sports nutrition advice, adaptive adventure training and sports coaching. We also plan to have Britain's first Skiplex where the wounded can learn ski techniques on a moving ski slope and in doing so, develop core strength, ski skills and balance as well as self confidence and a great deal of fun. Add to that a full equipped CV gym and climbing wall and we believe we will be offer an unrivalled centre for both the serving injured as well as those who leave, our ' Band of Brothers'.

In the next few weeks we will be in Plymouth where we will be launching our appeal to fund the £22m accommodation and rehabilitation centre to be run by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines which will of course will be available to other services as needed. We are greatly looking forward to showing the plans off so, for those of you who live in Devon and Cornwall, we will see you soon!

While we have been busy with the big capital projects at Colchester, Catterick, Plymouth and Tidworth we have also continued with providing individual support to the wounded and their loved ones. Over £1.5m has been granted to individuals over the last few months from our £6m Quick Reaction Fund and more continues to be deployed from our £15m Individual Recovery Programme Fund to help give the blokes the best start in their new lives.

Across the country our wonderful volunteers continue to do their bit to raise the funds to make all this happen; we can't do this without you so please keep doing all those mad things to raise the money, we need another £40m if anyone has a few gold bars sitting about. If you use our Bmycharity site for your fund raising, you'll be donating online with absolutely no commission so every penny goes to the cause and that has to be good.

If you are feeling the need to get going on a challenge then sign up for the two big bike rides we have planned this year: the Big Battlefield Bike Ride in June and the monster Ride to Recovery in September or any other of our fantastic events that you can read about on the website, go on, it's a challenge!

None of this could happen without our team at Tidworth and Downton, our fundraisers, our volunteers, so please accept my most sincere thanks for all that you all do to help us improve the lives of our blokes. We can't stop, we must not stop, but we are achieving something good, something wonderful; thanks so much and keep going!

With thanks to you all

Onwards and Upwards!

Bryn
