H4H Newsletter - December 2011

December 2011 newsletter

Dear H4H Supporter,

It was so moving to stop in a layby at eleven o'clock on the eleventh of November and to park in a long line of other cars doing the same, their drivers standing, heads bowed in silent reflection. I don't remember seing that happen for years and it just shows how much we as a nation respects and values our Armed Forces.

H4H Newsletter February 2011

February newsletter

Dear H4H Supporter,

It has been an extraordinary few weeks, even by H4H standards. With the income total since we launched standing at over £87m, which is wonderful, it is even better to see so much of it being spent in the support of 'our blokes', the men and women of our Armed Forces.

Last week we went to Colchester and together with the Army, The Royal British Legion and our other charity partners . . .

H4H Newsletter December 2010

December newsletter

Dear H4H Supporter,

Yet again we have had an extraordinary month, so much so that sometimes it is quite hard to take in all that is going on to support our blokes. Our H4H challenge trip to Nepal was a huge success with our intrepid trekkers climbing thousands of feet and raising a wonderful £58,151. A team from our official partner company, Deloitte, climbed Kilimanjaro and brought in a huge £110,000. Simon Cowell's X Factor finalists sang Heroes by David Bowie and it hit No1 in the charts...

H4H Newsletter November 2010

November newsletter

Dear H4H Supporter,

Last week Emma and I joined 50 Sahara Trekkers on a fund raising walk across some of the Sahara desert. It sounds fairly easy to wake up, pack up your tent, sling your main pack onto a camel and walk for 20 kms a day; less so when it is 42 degrees in the shade and you are climbing up sand dunes, but everyone made it. Our team included some young Servicemen who found it easy compared to their tours in Afghanistan but for the majority, this was the biggest challenge of their lives.

Dear H4H Supporter,

I have just heard that the Big Battlefield Bike Ride 2010 has raised over £1m, or £1,019,004.04, to be more precise. That is about £3000 for each mile we rode across Northern France and the money is still coming in. That is wonderful and I’d like to thank all those who took part, as well as all those who have made it such a success; thank you.
