Direct, Practical Support

Direct, Practical Support

We would like to thank some long term supporters of  Help for Heroes who have taken our values very much to heart.

The Rugby Business Network has supported the charity in direct and practical ways over the last few years. Actively involved in helping beneficiaries back into the workplace using their contacts they have also run a mentoring programme to assist men and women in the early stages of deciding what their future careers might be.

Recently RBN have linked into Rugby's Golf Club, who have been fundraising for 3 years to extend the number of wounded, injured and sick service personnel who can take up the sport of golf; many of whom may not have considered the benefits before.

Tony Richards and his team have raised money through charity golf days at prestigious golf clubs all round the UK, and continue to do so. With money raised they have put in putting greens at Tedworth House, Tidworth and Chavasse VC House in Colchester.

This means that our beneficiaries can either start golf as beginners or continue the sport while staying at the Recovery Centres. Golf has brought happiness to many of the Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters throughout the country and many go on to join local clubs and enjoy the physical, psychological and social benefits of golf.

Rugby's Golf Club are finishing the season with some golf days in Shendish Manor, Hemel Hempstead, Staverton Park, Northamptonshire and Royal Birkdale in Southport. Money raised at these events will go towards the development of a golfing provision at Plymouth Recovery Centre so that across the country people will have the chance of joining in.

If you are a golf enthusiast and would welcome the chance to play at these fabulous golf clubs then please visit the website at http://www.rugbysgolfclub.co.uk
