On Sunday 7 September Richard Kell ofLetchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, will set off from The Nags Head pub in Peckham attempting to run 300 miles to Lands End...in a week!
This is the second leg of his special Only Fools & Heroes challenge - raising money for Help for Heroes. Taking inspiration from TV favourite Del Boy Trotter, and one particularly memorable TV episode, Richard will don his own Batman costume, pushing Robin in a 3-wheeled buggy (customised to look like the infamous Robin Reliant) for the journey to Cornwall.
Whilst Del Boy had aspirations to trade internationally in Paris & New York he never quite managed to get out of Peckham. Richard however has already completed the Paris Marathon in April (in full Batman kit), and will take on the Big Apple’s own gruelling marathon challenge in November.
Richard is continuing the TV theme having previously completed a 200 mile Gavin & Stacey run from Billericay to Barry Island in 2011, and last year a 300 mile Soapathon - covering the ground between the sets of EastEnders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and Hollyoaks.
Richard has raised nearly £30,000 over the past 5 years. As well as the TV inspired runs, he has completed more than 80 marathons and ultra-marathons, a parachute jump and a couple of abseils for the charity.
