Sizzling Summer Fete Fun at Tedworth House

Sizzling Summer Fete Fun at Tedworth House

Yesterday afternoon saw the first ever Summer Fete for Band of Brothers (BoB) and Band of Sisters (BoS) to be held at Help for Heroes Tedworth House Recovery Centre. The house provided a stunning setting on one of the hottest days of the year (don't worry there was plenty of suncream to hand!) as BoB/BoS members and their families enjoyed an afternoon of fun in the sun.

Families were treated to a demonstration by Help for Heroes charity partner, Canine Partners who brought along some of their wonderful dogs for the day. They even brought their own paddling pool for the dogs to cool off in but this was also put to use by the lovely Chris from BFBS as a cool location to conduct his radio interviews from - good shout!

Stalls lined the gardens at Tedworth House with information about support for our wounded, injured and sick and their families available from other charity partners as well as the opportunity to sign up to new activities at Tedworth House such as the new weekly Gardening and Woodland Activities Club.

A vast amount of burgers, ice cream and cake was consumed throughout the day and a great many faces painted. It was absolutely wonderful to see so many Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters at the Fete, which was also enjoyed by Tedworth House staff, Help for Heroes co-founders Bryn and Emma Parry, and even the Mayor of Tidworth who popped along for an ice cream!

Having watched the gun dog show, bounced on the bouncy castle, reached the top of the climbing tower, won a prize on the raffle, had several turns at the welly wanging, listened (and had a bit of a boogie) to the fabulous Rock Choir, and eaten just one more ice cream, families headed home and the first Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters Summer Fete was over and most definitely a resounding success!

Huge thanks and a big bear hug to all who volunteered, set up, packed down and were generally just wonderful throughout the afternoon.
