This October Chesfield Downs Golf Club held their fourth annual charity golf day in support of Help For Heroes!
On the day 128 members and their guests played 18 holes of golf to support the charity. Norton Way Motors continued their long relationship with the event as main sponsor and was supported by other businesses including Specialist Cars, Norland Managed Services, Crown Golf and IJP Design. Ian Poulter sent a video message of his support of Chesfield and the day which was a nice surprise to those attending. After the golf there was a carvery lunch and Chesfield hosted Staff Sergeant Daz Rushforth and Flying Officer Rich Maxwell-Whale as their honoured guests. After lunch silent and live auctions took place with signed Ian Poulter memorabilia and rounds of golf at great golf courses among the many items. Chesfield Downs kindly donated 6-months membership which was won in a competition of “heads or tails” – and with a very generous gesture by the winner this was immediately offered for auction and contributed to the amazing grand total of just over £10,000 bring the total raised in the 4 years to over £30,000.
A big thank you to all those involved in supporting the day with donations, sponsorship, prizes and playing. We look forward to a successful event in 2014.
