Lorraine Kelly and celebrity chef, James Tanner have called on everyone who loves making tasty treats to don their aprons, grab a wooden spoon and bake a cake for a wounded hero!
The annual Help for Heroes Colossal Cake Sale will take place from 20 April – 5 May 2013 and the Charity is calling on communities across the UK to sign up.
The money raised from every bun, brownie and biscuit will help provide vital support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and their families, for life.
Cakes and other goodies, sweet or savoury, can be sold in schools, workplaces, market stalls and shopping centres; in fact anywhere there are people who like to eat cake.
Lorraine Kelly, Patron of Help for Heroes: "We all want to do our bit for Help for Heroes so how about holding a cake sale; it can be as small or as big as you like. You can have fun and raise money; I’m going to do it, with a little help from James – and if I can do it, anyone can! So please, please join us."
Emma Parry, Co-founder, Help for Heroes: "H4H is all about 'doing your bit' and taking part in the Colossal Cake Sale is a wonderful example of people rallying support and having fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated. It is a great way for supporters with a sweet tooth to get involved whether you bake or buy!"
Every cake sale organiser will receive a Colossal Cake Sale fundraising pack to help make each event a success, including Help for Heroes wristbands, lapel pins, collecting tins, bunting, balloons and stickers.
