Taking on the most dangerous race in the world

Taking on the most dangerous race in the world

Marathon Des SablesOne of our Help for Heroes Band of Brothers, Martin Hewitt, will be joined by former Bath & England rugby player David Barnes and Stuart Doughty who are taking part in the the most dangerous and difficult races in the world – the Marathon des Sables

The Marathon des Sables, which takes place in April 2014, is a self-supported foot race which covers 250km across the Moroccan Sahara over 6 stages in 7 days. The terrain includes high sand dunes as well as hard packed desert crust. They will have to carry all food and survival equipment and are restocked with water once each day. The exact route is kept secret until the day before the event so there's no recce of the route in advance.

The Team will be raising money for Help for Heroes, Bath Rugby Foundation & RESTART – Rugby Players’ Association.

You can donate to the team here and follow their progress on their blog
