Fundraise for Help for Heroes in 2016 by joining one of our UK-based charity treks, including the Yorkshire Three Peaks in August. Our UK charity treks are low cost and are some of our most accessible challenges; anyone can get involved! Take on this one-day challenge of epic proportions and sign up with your friends, family or colleagues. You’ll not only be tackling the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales, you’ll also be walking alongside the very Heroes you’ll be helping!
Help for Heroes are delighted to be one of the official charity partners of the British 10K London Run. A very doable distance, the 10K London Run is an exciting way to get involved with charity fundraising for Help for Heroes in 2016. Starting at Piccadilly, you’ll pass the World War Two Bomber Command Memorial to pay your respects to our fallen Heroes whilst raising vital funds for the future of our current wounded.
If running isn’t your thing, but you fancy doing something terribly British to raise money in 2016, why not get involved in our Bake for Heroes campaign? If you’re a fan of the Great British Bake-Off and fancy rustling up some cakes and cookies then we want to hear from you! Get baking for our Heroes and hold a bake sale at work or in your local community, or organise a tea and cake event with friends and colleagues. This year’s campaign takes place from 16 April to 2 May. Don’t worry, if those dates don’t work for you then you can still hold your events on a date that does – it’ll still make a difference to our Heroes. Fancy cooking up a storm? Go to our Bake for Heroes website.
Before you hit the January sales, online or in store, take a minute to register free at Give as You Live and raise money for Help for Heroes as you shop – and it won’t cost you a penny! More than 4000 stores including Amazon, eBay, Tesco, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and Just Eat will donate to Help for Heroes with every purchase.
You can also sign up to Pennies. This gives you the option to donate a few pence to charity when paying for goods or services by card. Choose to round up your totals online, in restaurants or in store to the nearest pound and let those small pennies make a huge difference. All it takes is one press of a button or a click of a mouse.
Use your mobile for good
Whether you’re an iPhone addict or only use your mobile phone for emergencies, there are two really simple ways to get involved with Help for Heroes in 2016.
Text to Donate is really easy and perfect if you want to show your support but don’t have time to do a challenge or volunteer. Just text HERO to 70900 to donate £5. 100% of the £5 comes to Help for Heroes (you will be charged £5 plus your standard network rate).
Alternatively, if you want to get involved with Help for Heroes in 2016 but aren’t sure how, just text HERO to 60777 (standard network rate only) and one of our amazing team will call you back for a chat. It really is a simple and easy way to show your support and let us know by text you want to ‘do your bit’.
Avoid the January blues
Stuck in a rut after the festive season? Do something fun in the New Year and raise money for our wounded Servicemen and women at the same time! Burns Night, Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day will soon be upon us, so they’re a great opportunity for a charity fundraiser.
If you’re still stuck for a New Year’s resolution after an indulgent Christmas, perhaps you could come up with some charity fundraising ideas like a sponsored diet or a month without chocolate?
Do you know a local pub or restaurant that would be keen to drum up business in the quiet period between New Year and Easter? Get them to organise a charity fundraising evening of curry, karaoke or a live band – all in aid of Help for Heroes!
Whatever your fundraising ideas, let us know and get support from our helpful and friendly fundraising team.
Are you tough enough to become a ‘Mudder’?
Take part in one of the toughest and muddiest challenges in the UK and help raise vital funds for our wounded servicemen and women too. Tough Mudder, a hardcore 12 mile-long obstacle courses, that includes crawling under razor wire, scaling inverted fences and getting a buzz of Electroshock Therapy, has to be one of our craziest ways to support our Heroes! Designed by the Special Forces, it’ll be the ultimate test of your strength, stamina, mental resilience and camaraderie. With Tough Mudder events this year in London, Scotland, the Midlands, Yorkshire, the South West and the North West there really is no excuse not to put your running shorts on and prepare to get very, very muddy.
We are lucky enough and incredibly grateful to have businesses across the UK who have become involved with Help for Heroes. From small companies who support us as their Charity of the Year, or get a team of staff together for a charity fundraising or challenge, to leading brands such as Asda, Marston’s, Debenhams, Vauxhall, Tesco and Ginsters, there are a number of ways to get involved. As well as allowing you to fulfil your corporate social responsibility, your company will also be helping our wounded Servicemen & women and Veterans as they continue on their long recovery journeys.
If you don’t have the time to organise a bake sale or run a marathon, an easy way to support our Heroes is to volunteer for our National Fundraising Collection Weekends which take place in supermarkets and retail stores across the UK. In 2016 we are lucky enough to be partnered with Asda and Debenhams. Volunteering just a couple of hours one weekend to rattle a bucket or collection tin for Help for Heroes will help us raise vital funds to support ‘the blokes’.
Become one of our amazing volunteers
If you have the time, we’d love to have you as part of our army of 1800 volunteers across the UK. If you live in and around the Wiltshire area you can volunteer at the Tin Hut, where it all began for Help for Heroes in 2007. You would be helping to communicate with our incredible supporter network by telephone, email and letter, raising awareness and thanking our fundraisers for their tireless efforts. We also have a number of local and regional volunteers and coordinators across the UK with lots of exciting opportunities to get involved. If you’d like to volunteer your time for Help for Heroes let us know by emailing us at email@example.com
Join us on Hero Ride 2016
Last year our signature fundraising challenge, Hero Ride, saw over 1,100 riders pull on their lycra and take to their bikes to show their support for our country’s Heroes. Now in 2016 we are delighted to announce that this year’s Hero Ride will be made up of our iconic Big Battlefield Bike Ride (BBBR) and the thrilling Dawn Raid. Whichever takes your fancy, both promise to be an unforgettable experience and offer the fantastic chance to cycle alongside the very people you’ll be fundraising for – our Heroes.
Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a Help for Heroes supporter looking for charity fundraising ideas, be part of something special alongside our wounded Servicemen and women. If they can do it, so can you!
