Battle Back have recently participated in a US Military Paralympic Sports Camp in San Diego. The team consisted of Martin Colclough DMRC, a RAMC Physio (Jo Gibbs) and 6 disabled Servicemen (1 x RM, 4 x Army and 1 x RAF).
They were accompanied by a journalist and photographer from the Sunday Telegraph.

Royal Navy instructors based at HMS Raleigh have put their physical fitness to the test to raise over £1,000 for Help for Heroes.

The organiser of the event was Petty Officer ‘Thorny’ Thornhill, aged 36, from Eggbuckland in Plymouth. He was joined by fellow instructors, Lieutenant Chris Wood, Chief Petty Officer ‘Faz’ O’Farrell and Petty Officers Russ Simpson, ‘Paul’ Newman and ‘Buster’ Brown. All are responsible for training new recruits to the Service.

Three UK servicemen based in North America have recently pounded the streets of 3 American cities in November 2008 to show their support for ‘Help for Heroes’ good work. Lt Col Jon Ball RLC (Army) made the lottery for entry into the prestigious New York City Marathon, where he ran a time of 4hrs 11mins. Meanwhile, the Royal Navy were represented in the Richmond Marathon through CPO Tim Jones, who, despite injury, valiantly completed the course in 5hrs 15mins. Completing the Tri-Service effort was Wg Cdr Paul James, who chose to run in the City of Brotherly Love, achieving a time of 2hrs 54mins in the Philadelphia Marathon.

Durham County Council Chairman Len O'Donnell present a cheque for £4,000 to Barbara Chambers of the Help for Heroes Fund.
Speaking after presenting a cheque, Mr O'Donnell said there was a real need to give extra
backing to the country's armed forces.

Steve Roberts raised £325 pounds on the 31st Jan.
Steve grew his hair for 18 months whilst his father Dave was undergoing cancer treatment agreeing only to shave it off once Dave was in remission.

Fleet Morning Townswomen’s Guild raised £2,620 for Help for Heroes.
Fund raising events included a NAAFI styled Lunch for 40 member, numerous themed lunches, a Sponsored slim. The annual Garden Party with creamed tea featured a service personnel head gear competition, and a ENSA style concert. Members also donated their small change under the slogan “Please give us a Helping Hand”.
Carolyn Balfour, the local county coordinator for Help for Heroes, received the guild’s donation at their first meeting in 2009 held at the Harlington Centre Fleet.
Carolyn, said that like so many others with family members in the services, the Charity is very close to her heart. She therefore had great pleasure and much gratitude in accepting the cheque on behalf of the Charity.

Dave from Dunnington near York and Hilary from Pontefract are long-standing family friends, keen walkers and cycling buddies. They have a combined age of 133 safely putting them in the category of pensioners!
They will set out from John O’Groats on Thursday 28 May following the east of Pennines route with their trusty support team keeping a close eye on their progress.

This cheque handover was from the Atholl Players an amateur dramatic club in Pitlochry Perthshire. They put on a play, Dick Barton Special Agent in November at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
They raised £795.88 from a bucket collection and donation. The people in the photo’ are members of the cast and Mike Dickinson (In the H4H tie) Coordinator for Perthshire.

In September 2009, 5 instructors from ‘C’ Company Gloucestershire Army Cadet Force took part in the Paras10 which was a 10 mile multi-terrain challenge carrying 35lb in a bergan. The instructors all completed the event and rose in total £3735.02 which was shared out between the Help for Heroes campaign (£1303.15) and the Royal British Legion (£2431.97).
