Christmas Cards
This week we are featuring the fabulously festive Help for Heroes Christmas cards. If you prefer classic and traditional or fun and witty, you’ll find the perfect card with us. Each design featured above comes in a pack of 10 and includes a simple merry message inside – 'With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year'. This year, spread some festive cheer while showing your support for our wounded Heroes.
H4H YOUNG SUPPORTERS
Help for Heroes is very lucky to have the support of many wonderful young people who want to ‘do their bit’. We love to hear about the fundraising efforts of all our supporters of course! But we happily admit reading about the efforts of these lovely young people brings a smile and a lump to the throat of everyone in the office.
Chaddy Park Under 12’s show their support
Chaddy Park Under 12's are showing their support for Help for Heroes by having the charity’s names and logo on their football kit this season. The Club held a charity match against Waterloo Road at their pitch in Chadderton Fold.
The team coaches Mark Lengden and Mark Rimmer said “the boys are enjoying a great season and are proud to support Help for Heroes.”
The Rose of Lancaster landlord, Anthony Walton, is also pictured with the team and is supporting the charity this year by raising money through fantasy football and results predictor leagues.
Brandon Sibley takes on The Spartan Race
In October, 15 year old Brandon Sibley took part in The Spartan Race, a 5km course which challenges participants with obstacles such as net crawls, ice pits and fire jumps. Despite being below the minimum age to take part, Brandon completed the course in 35 minutes, taking 20th place out of over 700 competitors. This is a brilliant achievement in itself but Brandon also raised an amazing £435 for Help for Heroes. Congratulations Brandon and thank you very much for all your hard work and support.

Corporal Rob Fletcher completes Kielder Marathon
Corporal Rob Fletcher, 45, of the Military Provost Guard Service at Catterick Garrison’s Infantry Training Centre has recently completed his first marathon, at Kielder, in 4hrs 21 mins and in doing so raised £2820 for Help for Heroes.
Cpl Fletcher, who was himself injured whilst on active service in Iraq, said that aside from personal fitness and achievement goals he was only too aware of the challenges faced by troops in theatre and wanted to “do his bit” to support them.
He is pictured handing over his cheque to David Morgan of Help for Heroes. Well done Rob and thank you!

Ultra100 – 100 miles in 24 hours
On 5th November, LCPL Will Judd and LCPL Lee Swain successfully completed Ultra100 – the challenge of running 100 miles in 24 hours. They started in Letchworth, and ran through St. Albans, London and Horsham before reaching the finish line on Worthing Pier.
“We’ve both had friends who have been killed or wounded in combat. We took on this challenge to show our support and to raise as much as we could for Help for Heroes.”
The guys raised a fantastic £1500 which will go towards providing direct, practical support to our wounded Heroes and their families. We would like to say a huge congratulations and thank you to you both.
Wycliffe School’s Charity of the Year
Help for Heroes is delighted to have been Wycliffe Prep School’s Charity of the Year from 2010 – 2011. Over the past year, they have raised an amazing total of £4007.46! This was raised through collection plates in Chapel and in musical performances and donations for non-uniform days. A percentage of profits from their Christmas Fayre in 2010 and sponsorship for the Year 8 Kirby Challenge Award also contributed to this fabulous total. Thank you to the whole school, and everyone who took part in organising such a successful year of fundraising.
