Planned Event:	In September of this year I plan to trek the entier mountain range of Mount Kenya. The summit of Mount Kenya rises 5199m and dominated the rich green farmland of Kenya's Central Highland region. The central volcanic plug can be summated only by skilled technical climbers. Planned Event:	My name is Sgt Jon cartwright and i am a combat medic working in the forces hospital in Gibraltar with the Royal Gibraltar Regt. I have an idea to raise money for help for heroes within the forcesworldwide. For a good year now i have had a small squeaky monkey teddy which has been sat on my desk. Whilst it has been with me it has been kidnapped and abducted etc from my desk quite a few times to the point where i have had to pay money because it has been held for ransom. At the same time i saw a mate come back from a holiday where he was seen jumping out of a plane holding a teddy called Gulliver who when you send a picture with him and yourself to Easyjet, you would go in to a draw to win a free flight. I then had an idea for the forces side which would go to this valuble cause. My idea is to send this monkey to as many BFPO locations as possible within a year to raise money. My intent would be that when it gets to a location a photo is taken and sent to me at work where i will have a board up with a map and photos. I have spoken to BFPO gibraltar who would support me on this to get George (The Monkey) sent for free to all BFPO locations. I have also spoken to BFBS gib and they would give me the backing on the global forces network. The plan would be that when George gets to the location the BFPO post office there would get a bucket (whip round ) as many people as possible then, get a photo taken on location and sent to me.The monies would be collected at the end of the day and sent through the admin/pay office to an account which i also have the backing to open, herein Gib through are forces cashier. Once the money has been collected the post office would then send Georgeto the next BFPO location etc etc. I would be working very closely with the post office in Gib who are willing to oversee the movement of George. The idea is that it gets back to me within a year where i will round up the monies collected and present it to HFH. When you recieve george the monkey please give generously. many thanks Jon

Planned Event:	'GO BEYOND - HUMAN ENDURANCE TRANS BRITAIN EVENT' A team of 3 personnel based at RAF Kinloss are going to tackle the Go Beyond Human Endurance Trans Britain event. The event itself takes place between the 11th-17th September this year. The race is over 6 days and starts at Robert The Bruces cave in Scotland. From there we head South via the Cumbrian mountains. Each day is a different distance over the mountains. The race finishes at Ruthin Castle in Wales. Over the 6 days each runner will have covered more than 180 miles and climbed numerous peaks throughout Britain. Throughout the 6 days each runner must be self sufficient and carry all their kit, equipment, clothing and food with them. On top of that there is a safety kit list which we must get and also carry it throughout the races. Each runner is issued with a map and is responsible for ensuring they navigate their way correctly. Each night we are in tented accomodation, where there will be medics/physios to attend to anyone's injuries.The event itself is worldwide. Entry to the event was £2250 which has kindly been sponsored by J.Gordon Williamson, a local company in Elgin. On the final night all competitors are accomodated in Ruthin Castle, were a Gala dinner will be held.

Planned Event:	The idea is for a banger run across 12 countries in 4 days in cars costing no more than £250 each (must be roadworthy with MOT - can spend more on vehicle after its purchase to make it safe etc), with a registration fee (TBC) and sponsorship which I will be looking to collate through Justgiving.com (main event page then individual car/teams to feed off it). I will be trying to get as much publicity as possible and the SELOC contingent will hopefully be joined with a decent amount of other cars from the forces, etc. All accom will be tented, I will publish a route that the lead car will be going and the recommended campsite at each stop with decent capacity. Challenges will be offered en route at various locations in addition to the 2 circuits we will be driving. I have tried to design it to be fun be challenging enough to attract sponsorship. The (draft) basic itinerary will be: Day 1 Meet Calais, issued with packup (hopefully T-shirts, stickers, challenges for route etc) and prize awarded to best decorated car costing under £250. Calais to Nurberg (approx 5h30) 357 miles, passing via Essen through France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany. Overnight stop Nurberg. Day 2 Nurburgring! Then Nurberg to Luxembourg (approx 2h) 96 miles Luxembourg to Lichtenstein (approx 5h) 300 miles (travelling through countries Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. Night stop nr Lichtenstein Day 3 Lichtenstein to Milan (approx 5h30) 275 miles Milan to Monaco (approx 3h) 190 miles (countries traversed Italy, Monaco) Night Stop near Monaco (as near as we can find campsite-wise!) Day 4 Monaco Grand Prix circuit! Monaco to Andorra (approx 7h30) (countries traversed Spain, Andorra) Run complete! Return to England/ Relax on French Riviera!

Planned Event:	Ex Northern Frontier Over the period of the 2 - 9 August 2010 a sponsored 110 mile battle march will be taking place along the complete length of the Antonine Wall which is 37 miles, and Hadrians Wall which is 73 miles. This is being organised by Sgt Angie Sowerby from the Royal Logistic Corp attached to Log Sup Branch, HQ 3 (UK) Divisional, Bulford. This march will be in aid of Help for Heroes (H4H) and the Army Target Shooting Club (ATSC). 30% of the total money raised will be donated across to the ATSC who will be converting some of their accommodation at Bisley to cater for injured Soldiers, so that they can continue to use these facilities for all types of sporting shooting and competition shooting. Sgt Sowerby will be accompanied on this march by Sgt Kevin Sinclair from the Metropolitan Police (Feltham North Safer Neighbourhood Team) and Miss Samantha Askew from Greenfield Comprehensive School, Newton Aycliffe, Co Durham. A small admin team will assist the group along the way. The 110 mile march, with camping along the way will begin on the Antonine Wall at Carriden on the Forth (East Scotland) and will finish on Hadrians Wall at Wallsend (North East England). Starting at Carriden on the Forth the first 37 miles will be done covering 18 Â½ miles a day over a 2 day period, ending at Old Kilpatrick on the Clyde (West Scotland). After a nights sleep transport will move the group down to Hadrians Wall at Solway Firth (North West England), where the remaining 73 gruelling miles will commence, covering around 15-16 miles a day over a 5 day period finally ending at Wallsend (North East England). To make this march even more challenging than it already is, Sgt Sowerby (only 5ft 3) will be completing the march wearing full Roman Legionary Battle Armour and Roman leather hobnailed sandals. The armour (Segmenta), shield, sword (Gladius type Pompeii), dagger and helmet are all made of brass and steel which weighs in excess of 30kg. Also being carried will be the primary weapon a heavy javelin (Puml) this is an additional 1.8kg. To complete this march carrying around 33kg in basic footwear, across very hilly and rough terrain will be extremely punishing on the body and the poor old feet over a substantial period of time. By the end of the march she may be only 5ft! : ( Sgt Sowerby I think every bit can make can make a difference, if I can help at least one injured fellow soldier then it will be worth it! Also I hope the weather fairs or I will have very soggy socks! Sgt Sinclair will be completing the march wearing British Army modern day desert fighting order. This will include a fully loaded patrol pack, osprey body armour, water camel pack, desert assault vest and helmet including goggles. Due to the legality reasons a rifle cannot be carried but will be re-placed with a Help for Heroes flag. In total his complete kit will weigh around 30kg but will be much more balanced and more suitable footwear will be worn. However this will still be extremely punishing on his body especially being a rookie to carrying such weight for such a long distance. This is going to be the longest beat of his life! Sgt Sinclair fully appreciates what our armed forces are doing, and I know it will hurt completing this march but it will be worth every bit of it. Samantha Askew aged 15 will be following in the footsteps on the march wearing British Army modern day woodland fighting order. She will also be wearing a fully loaded patrol pack, combat body armour, water camel pack, combat assault vest and helmet. Again the rifle will be re-placed with a Help for Heroes flag. In total her kit will weigh around 20kg. This walk is going to be extremely challenging for Samantha as she currently has never walked further than 25 miles. She has youth on her side, but boy she is going to need it! Planned Event:	The idea is for as many individuals as possible to get involved in completing 10 10 Km Running Road Races in 2010. Intially a team from Propulsion Support Section (PSS) RAF Leuchars led by Mike 'Jethro' Powell and a Team from PSS RAF Lossiemouth led by Paul 'Brinny' Brinton are doing this challenge. However we aim to get as many people involved as possible through H4H Facebook RAF and civilian friends and family as possible. The races to be run are TBD however people can run any 10K races they choose. We hope to complete the last race on 10/10/10 !

Planned Event:	As a banker, I'm trying to prove that we're not all driven by nothing more than the next bonus cheque! I will be running 7 marathons in a 12 month period, covering the length and breadth of the UK from Cheltenham to the Highlands of Scotland, from Snowdonia to Belfast, from Essex to the Isle of Man. Slightly further a field, I will also by running The Falklands Marathon! I have chosen (generally) the lesser known events....unsung marathons for our unsung heroes! I thought that would be enough of a challenge in itself, but my brother-in-law has other ideas! As an RAF man I take his orders very seriously, so I will also be embarking on a series of military themed challenges to test my Civvie Street credentials (not to mention my real fear of heights) to the limit! I will be abseiling from a military helicopter; completing elements of the commando test (including a 30 mile endurance run); and jumping out of a plane! More challenges to follow.....
