What is the Band of Sisters?

Support, Recognition and Fellowship.

In the summer of 2010 Help for Heroes received a letter from the mother of a wounded soldier who was enquiring about the support available to her daughter-in-law. This letter, along with many other incredibly moving conversations with the families who support our heroes, acted as a catalyst that led us to the realisation that it’s not just our 'blokes', the men and women of the Armed Forces, who need looking after – it’s our 'sisters', their loved ones, too.

The Band of Sisters is a support network for those who care for, and support their wounded Hero. We are eager to see our ‘Sisters’ supported by others who understand some of the thoughts emotions and day-to-day situations you might experience. So far the Band of Sisters is over 100 strong and growing.

We are a friendly ear and shoulder for family members, which, we hope will result in a network of support that covers the UK and beyond and can be used when needed, and in confidence. We will be able to offer the odd treat and day/evening out.
