''To the brave men and women fighting for freedom all round the world. A heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to each and every one of you for your courage, dedication and strength. You have placed your lives on the line to keep not just Britain safe, but to give other countries the right to the same freedom. This CD is my way of helping you, and is supporting the UK HERO HARP TOUR 2009-2011, raising money for wounded heroes." |
UK Hero Harp Tour Bethan Hughes is showing her support for Help for Heroes with a UK harp tour, starting at the end of June 2009 and finishing in August 2011. All donations, proceeds, and wages received during this tour will go to Help for Heroes. By the start of January 2010, she had already raised over £11,000 and sold over 700 wristbands.
She also performs at two lunch time concerts a month at concert venues across the UK in support of H4H. Her journey has so far also included community concerts including one at the British Legion. Bethan explains why she is doing this tour: "Through voluntary compassionate care with British forces since 2001, I have supported and adopted hundreds of soldiers through deployments, witnessed the effects of combat stress, seen many soldiers wounded and have lost so many fallen heroes. This is my way of saying 'thank you' to all our Armed Forces." With the support of our wounded, including Ben Parkinson (Para), Gus Wilson (MC-REME), James Fletcher (40cdo), and H4H patron Major Phil Packer (RMP), this tour was planned and put into action. Bethan funds all the travel herself and also gave her time for free at the Chefs for Heroes event. "The support from the public, the Armed Forces and their families, Air and Army Cadets and especially our emergency services has been phenomenol. The tour has also given Bethan uses ‘Help for Heroes’ banners, tins, and t-shirts at each stop on her tour. Every local newspaper, radio station, and social network will be informed of the time table and personal donations throughout the year. Local Armed Forces personnel have also already shown their backing and will donate time to come and hold tins at Tesco’s stores. Bethan hopes to raise between £50,000 and £100,000. Good luck with the tour Bethan, from all at H4H! You can find out more about Bethan and her work via her website www.bethanmyfanwy.com. |
