Gill Shaw - The Hero Inside

THE HERO INSIDE BY GILL SHAW

The Hero InsideThe Hero Inside, Gill Shaw's stunning and inspiring new book has now been launched, and is currently No.2 on the Tesco Best Seller list. You can purchase a copy at the Help for Heroes shop, Tesco's and Amazon.

"My name is Gill Shaw I am an award winning photographer based in London. I photograph people, including members of the Royal Family, Presidents, Prime Ministers and celebrities. I also specialise in portraits, weddings and PR events.

I, for one, know that we have the best Armed Forces in the world and I am truly inspired by the whole concept of heroism.  My passion for this project was further kindled by an enormous coincidence. I recently discovered my son is going to Afghanistan in April and, when I met Bryn and Emma Parry from Help for Heroes,  I learnt that their son, Tom, is in the same regiment, both based at Bally Kinler and both going to Afghanistan in April.

My purpose in wanting to produce this book and subsequent exhibition is to show our war heroes in a positive light, in these negative times. All profits from the sale of the book and the exhibition will go to Help for Heroes."

Ross Kemp Forward"Since becoming a Patron of Help for Heroes I have had the privilege and honour of meeting many young Servicemen and women who have been wounded. Without exception they are proud and they are humble, and above all, they do not consider themselves to be heroes; we know differently.

I can only hope that what Gill has done is to bring together a book that will hopefully inspire you 'to do your bit' in helping these Servicemen and women who have already given so much for our country and us.

I am incredibly proud and honoured to be a Patron of this wonderful charity. I hope that by supporting our Armed Services and in particular the many wounded young men and women, you are proud of yourself - you should be."

Richard Dannatt"I would contend that anyone who joins the Forces knowing they may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country is indeed a hero. What Help for Heroes has acheived, as well as the launch of exciting projects such as the new pool at Headley Court, is to ensure that our young men and women who return from operations, having suffered appalling and life-changing injuries, never feel that their sacrifice is taken for granted by the people of the United Kingdom.

I know that I speak on behalf of all ranks in the Army - as well as their families - when I thank Help for Heroes for all these magnificant acheivements. We are all deeply grateful."

Former Army Chief General Sir Richard Dannatt KCB CBE MC ADC

Mark Elliott"I have run a few marathons in my short life but the 2009 London Marathon will go down as the very best! No, it was not my fastest time but to have the privilege and honour to run with Marine Ben McBean, and on the same course as John Sandford-Hart and Major Phil Packer, was simply incredible. We often talk about heroes; I can say with hand on heart that on the 26 April 2009, I ran with my heroes... All real heroes."
