We kicked off the month with a lovely day out at the Folk Museum at Cultra on Friday 2nd September. The Combat Stress photography group took us under their wing and taught us plenty of tips and tricks for capturing a great photo. The setting was idyllic with lots of historical buildings and equipment to work with. Luckily the weather was on our side throughout the day which allowed plenty of time for the two groups to mix, relax and enjoy the craic in the sunshine – bliss!

On Saturday 10th September, we were outdoors again with NICCA, who delivered a great day of fishing. The lovely team taught us how to coarse fish for rudd and roach fish. Fly fishing was also offered for those who wished to tackle the elusive pike. Speaking on behalf of the group, I think it’s safe to say that we found the day very rewarding and therapeutic. The peaceful and sunny setting made for a relaxing few hours dotted with exhilarating moments of excitement when a fish took the bait!

Hero Bear, Scotty - one of our Help for Heroes Ambassadors, and I visited a primary school to thank their primary four class who fundraised for H4H on Tuesday 13th September. The lovely pupils arranged a bake sale and donated the money to the charity. The children were very excited to see our Hero Bear and Scotty delivered a powerful presentation to explain how their generosity will help H4H beneficiaries.

Another successful archery day took place on Saturday 17th September, thanks to fellow BoB Chris. It was an action packed and fun day of bare bow and freestyle practice and resulted in a nail-biting competition- congratulations to Denise, our modern day Robin Hood. We were all delighted to receive our basic archery certificates, which will allow those wanting to continue the sport to join an archery club. Thank you once again to Chris and Marc, you were brilliant hosts and teachers!
