September ended on a brilliant note, having spent the weekend of 24th and 25th at the Belfast Dog Show Society (BDSS) Championship event. The BDSS kindly selected Help for Heroes as their charity of choice and provided us with a stall to fundraise and sell doggy-related merchandise. The Royal Irish regiment assisted us and brought along their regimental mascot, a nine month old Irish Wolfhound puppy called Brian Boru X, who was very popular with the BDSS guests. Thank you very much to our team of nine volunteers who did a marvellous job-I am delighted to say we raised over £800 over the weekend!
Help for Heroes have been invited to deliver three presentations in October, two of which are to the Regimental Association of the Ulster Defence Regiment and another to the 38X Personnel Recovery Unit. Such presentations offer great opportunities to raise awareness of Help for Heroes and the support we can offer to individuals in Northern Ireland.
Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters staff team training took place on the 12th and 13th October in Tedworth House. Help for Heroes now has a team of eighteen BoB/BoS staff who are based throughout the UK so it was lovely to see everyone together and catch-up on charity business and updates.
Really looking forward to seeing you all at the family Halloween bowling day on Monday 31st October, its set to be spook-tacular!
