October has been fairly quite in the region with your slack co-ord taking some leave, attending some team training and even attending the Catterick fashion show-bang on trend darlings!
However a small number attended our cricket day at the beautiful Trent Bridge, getting a couple of hours training followed by a fascinating behind the scenes tour of this famous old ground and a presentation of a cricket bat signed by the entire Nottinghamshire CC squad for this year. Next time you visit Tedworth House keep an eye out as it will soon be up in the old bar area with a couple of others….
Possibly the biggest event was a team of three of us taking part in the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 16th October, raising funds for our accommodation unit at The QE Hospital Birmingham, Fisher House. A huge thank you to Victoria Coughlin and Sally Orange (who dressed as a pineapple-obviously!) for a superb effort. Despite the pain it was a superb experience with thousands coming out to cheer, high five and supply jelly babies along the route. It was that good we are already on about doing it again next year and I would strongly encourage you to get involved-it was great. That good in fact that Victoria who has never run that distance before has now signed up to join Sally on the London Marathon-respect sister! More to follow in November about a running club for BoB being run here in the Midlands by one of our remarkable guys Karl Hinett who has also just become a Dad-congratulations Karl.
The last event of the month was also as result of the generosity of one of our BoBs Carl Cooper, with BoB’s attending a superb dinner evening at Hednesford FC with Bryan Robson as the speaker. A great night made extra special by the seats being on Bryan Robson’s table.
What's Coming Up?
We will have some tickets up for grabs for a couple of superb sporting events in November and December, the Thames Boat trip, a get together in the Leicester area, a Armed Forces Compensation Scheme surgery taking place at Fisher House on Wednesday 23rd November, a bowling night in Telford on Thursday 10th November, a trip to the Morgan Car factory along with planning for Christmas which approaches oh far too fast.
