There were 2 main events in Scotland this month. The Personnel Recovery Centre had their Christmas lunch for all live in residents who were on their CRE1 transition course, and the BoB/BoS Christmas lunch for Borders/Lothians/Central belt of Scotland
At the PRC lunch the H4H Christmas stockings were handed out by Father Xmas and an Elf to the “blokes”. They were over the moon and scuttled away to open their presents in their rooms. We all enjoyed good food, good fun and a few games were thrown into the mix.
At the Christmas lunch for the BoB/BoS members, we had a private room booked in the stunning historic Royal Scots Club in the centre of Edinburgh. 21 BoB/BoS attended (our oldest being 90 years old). Some of our guys wore their service medals, while others wore badges of affiliation to other military organisations
The RSC service was excellent and after an opening speech by Mary Wilson and a very moving, emotional speech by David Dent, one of our BoB and Warrior Games competitors, we enjoyed the lovely food and conversation for 3 hours. It was a great time to give out the Jo Malone perfume which was received well along with their individual stockings.
Dave, a new BoB member said “you have succeeded where others have failed as since leaving Service in 1991 I have avoided all invites and cut myself off from a life I am very proud of. Following our chance meeting, I am now able to embrace my service life once again, for that I owe you gratitude. I was honoured, proud and apprehensive about being included today. Many memories and thoughts have passed through my head. A box that has been locked is now reopened. Thank you and absolute respect.”
