It was all about rest and relaxation at the Catterick Recovery Centre for the group of Band of Sisters as they checked in for their Respite weekend.
The three day break was packed full of fun activities such as massage treatments, nail treatments, cake decorating, relaxation class, mindfulness and a pub quiz.
The break was a chance for the partners, mothers and daughters of wounded servicemen to meet and share experiences in order to offer mutual support and advice. It was also an opportunity to make new friends and enjoy being pampered.
Many of the Help for Heroes Band of Sisters are carers to their injured loved ones, they also hold down full time jobs, some are mothers/ fathers/sons and daughters; some are even studying full time.
The Respite weekend was the chance for these unsung heroes to enjoy some much deserved ‘me time’ and to recharge the batteries ready to continue their much needed and valued support back home.
Speaking about the weekend on of the attendees said: – “It was a pleasure to meet other BoS's and the team at Phoenix House, I must admit I was apprehensive about coming but you all made me feel very welcome and at ease very quickly. The whole weekend was a joy to be a part of, you have certainly helped to reset my batteries and I hope it is the same for the other ladies”.
One of Help for Heroes corporate partners surprised the ladies with cabin bags. There will be another Respite Weekend at Phoenix House early next year.
