It was all about rest and relaxation at the Colchester Recovery Centre for 8 loved ones as they checked in for a Respite weekend.
The three day break was packed full of fun activities such as chocolate making and games as well as holistic treatments including Reflexology, aromatherapy massage and beauty treatments like manicures and pedicures.
The break was a chance for the partners, mothers and daughters of wounded servicemen to meet and share experiences in order to offer mutual support and advice. It was also an opportunity to make new friends and enjoy being pampered.
Many of the Help for Heroes Band of Sisters are carers to their injured loved ones, they also hold down full time jobs, some are mothers/ fathers/sons and daughters; some are even studying full time
The Respite weekend was the chance for these unsung heroes to enjoy some much deserved ‘me time’ and to recharge the batteries ready to continue their much needed and valued support back home.
For Emma Armsby it was her first stay at the Recovery Centre. Speaking about the weekend Emma said: “Abbie you went above and beyond and I can't thank you enough it was just what I needed a good old laugh, you put so much effort in to make sure we were happy and all felt at home, also thank you to the other staff who was there such a friendly bunch well I think I say this from all of us a MASSIVE THANK YOU.”
