100 Band of Brother members and over 1000 fundraisers cycled from all over the UK and Europe to come together in Windsor for the grand finale of Hero Ride on Sunday 21 June. Meeting first at Runnymead, the 1100 cyclists rode the 6 miles to Windsor Racecourse in one giant peloton, with crowds of cheering bystanders showing their respect and gratitude for our forces. The public were encouraged to join in and #Backthe100.
Once at Windsor Racecourse, the riders were greeted by family and friends who had arrived to congratulate the cyclists on completing a total of over 18000 miles in the saddle! Then everyone stuck around for Heroes Sunday, which included zorbing, zipwires, live music, BBQs and lots of fun had by everyone.
Band of Brother member, Michael said, “Help for Heroes gave me my life back and doing Hero Ride is a small token to say thank you for everything they’ve helped me to achieve. I was in a dark place but because of this amazing charity my life is a happy one again.”
