Staff at Border Force nominated and chose us as their Charity of the Year. Many Border Force staff are ex-military and some have been supported personally by H4H. As part of the H4H partnership legacy Border Force is looking to set up a Military Veterans Network.
The two year partnership began in January 2015 with a fundraising target of £50k which they are determined to smash!
Sir Charles Montgomery KBE, Director General, Border Force said: “I am confident that our partnership will be a great success. I am looking forward to taking part in some of the fundraising activities and also visiting the Help for Heroes Recovery Centres to see first-hand the support some members of the Border Force team have received."
Fundraising is in full-swing and has included a Border Force XI v Cricket for Heroes XI and a special Armed Forces Day collection at London Heathrow which raised over £4,500.
Future plans include a London City Airport Treasure Hunt, Heathrow Runway Run, Hadrian's Wall trek and Dunkirk to Calais rowing challenge. They have been taking Hero Bear on tour – he has already been to Australia and Singapore! The team are also aiming to knit 600 for the H4H Christmas Stockings Campaign. Phew!
Border Force is a law enforcement command within the Home Office, responsible for securing UK borders by carrying out immigration and customs controls for people and goods entering the UK.
