David & Pat Brown

For Extraordinary Ongoing Support of Help for Heroes

David and Pat Brown started fundraising in 2009 after being moved by the injured troops they saw at their daughter Sally's medal parade. The couple decided to do hold a cake sale on Armed Forces Day at their home in Burgh-St-Peter in Suffolk.

They began to hold regular stalls in their nearest town of Beccles – there was enormous demand and  soon orders were pouring in for private events. By 2012 the Armed Forces Day event had expanded to include jumble sales, other stalls and a tea and coffee tent where the community could come and chat, enjoy the sunshine and some cake as well as support the charity.

Tragically Pat Brown passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in March this year. With the support of family and friends and in Pat’s memory, David has been brave enough to carry on and because of his dedication the fundraising figure stands at £53,000!
