Robert Francis Gordon joined the Armed Forces in May 2005, aged 19, as a trooper serving the Queen's Royal Hussars. Rob trained at Pirbright and then moved to his base in Germany upon completion of his phase 2 training in Bovington.

Rob was deployed to Iraq in April 2006 - November 2006 where part of his duties included training the Iraqi army. In November 2008 - June 2009, Rob went on operation in Afghanistan providing armoured support to the Royal Marines. Rob left the Armed Forces in January 2010 to pursue a career as a plumber.

Sadly Robert passed away in September 2010, as a result of a tragic accident.

Rob, also known to his army mates as 'Flash', was often described as the life and soul of the party and was known for his wicked sense of humour and immaculate dress sense, always reminding us that 'it took a real man to wear pink!' Amongst his favourite catchphrases were 'keep it casual' and 'awesome'.

Rob would never stay in one place for long, and when on leave from the army, would always be booking his next trip. On one occasion, when on the way back from Iraq, Rob and his army mates decided to go to Ibiza there and then, and his mum simply got a phone call informing us of his whereabouts only when he'd arrived at his holiday destination...!

Rob was very well respected by his civilian friends as well as his comrades and would have done anything for them.

Rob's funeral was attended by many and donations were made at the service which reached a total of £1076.00, which were forwarded to 'Help for Heroes', a cause which Rob felt very strongly about, having lost close friends during his operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
