LaunchHelp for Heroes today announced their support for the Royal Navy Recovery Pathway with up to £20m to aid the building of a new Personnel Recovery Centre for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines which will also be available for personnel from the RAF and Army. The project was officially launched onboard HMS Bulwark, while docked in HMS Naval Base Devonport, Plymouth with keynote speeches from the Second Sea Lord and Commander-in-Chief Naval Home Command, Vice Admiral Charles Montgomery CBE ADC, CEO and Founder of Help for Heroes, Bryn Parry OBE and the Rt. Honourable Andrew Robathan, Minister for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans, in front of wounded Heroes, local dignitaries and local fundraisers from Devon.

The local fundraisers were delighted to meet some of the heroes from Hasler Company that will benefit from the completion of the facility. Many of them have raised money for Help for Heroes and have no connection to the military but felt compelled to contribute because they are in awe of those who are brave enough to serve their country.

"We were delighted to be able to bring together our supporters who generously give their time to raise much needed funds for our guys and girls and to connect them with the wounded who benefit directly from their fundraising." said Bryn Parry, CEO and co-founder of H4H. "The success of Help for Heroes is down to the efforts of our supporters, who have been inspired by the sacrifice and commitment of the British armed forces. The launch of the Hasler Company Expansion Project is important to us because we support equally all three services and we are thrilled that the rehabilitation plans are now coming to fruition."

Hasler Company PlymouthH4H have committed to delivering the resources to project manage and deliver a new accommodation block and rehabilitation facilities. This will be centred on a purpose-built 60 bed accommodation and office facility, a hydrotherapy pool and a new rehabilitation gymnasium. The Naval Service Recovery Pathway and Hasler Company are totally inclusive and tri-Service in approach, accepting personnel from all three services. Although currently the majority of personnel assigned are Royal Marines.

Second Sea Lord and Commander-in-Chief Naval Home Command, Vice Admiral Charles Montgomery CBE ADC said: "Today I wish to highlight our immense gratitude for the exceptional contribution being made by Help for Heroes. It has committed twenty million pounds to support expanded and improved facilities for the Royal Navy’s Recovery capability and Defence rehabilitation facilities in the South West. The wonderful support and hugely generous contribution and commitment being made today by Help for Heroes will not only benefit our people in the RN and RM. It is already - and will continue to be - made available to support injured and ill members of the Army and RAF. In fact there are already 2 soldiers being supported here in Devonport. We will work together with our sister Services and local supporting organisations to help our Service men and women."

It is anticipated that the H4H expansion project will be complete in July 2012.
