Ashes stars and H4H cricketers visit Headley Court ahead of Cricket for Heroes

Sports, like cricket, are helping our heroes recover every day.

Players have built self-esteem and a sense of pride since being part of the Help for Heroes Cricket Club and importantly, the club gives players the chance to be part of a close-knit group again, something they haven’t experienced since suffering life-changing injuries or dealing with psychological scars.

Cricket for Heroes, on Thursday September 17 at the Kia Oval, will see the very first Old Mutual Changemakers Challenge Cup match between Help for Heroes Cricket Club and the England Physical Disability XI.

As they prepare for this unique fixture, Help for Heroes caught up with a couple of the team members during a recent visit by Australian Cricket Team trio - Mitchell Johnson, Josh Hazlewood and Ryan Harris.

This match will be followed by an All Star Twenty20 match between a Help for Heroes XI, led by Andrew Strauss and a Rest of the World XI, led by Brendon McCullum.

Confirmed players include Graeme Smith, Shahid Afridi, Matthew Hayden, Graeme Swann, Scott Styris and Darren Gough.

Tickets cost just £20 for adults and £1 for kids (under-16).
